Ten Things to Consider Before Filing for Divorce: Part I

A recent Huffington Post Divorce article listed ten things that people should consider before filing for divorce.

The first item listed was to "Start with a good marriage counselor".  I advise prospective clients nearly every day that my job is not to tell them whether or not they should get a divorce.  My role as a Tampa family law attorney is to guide my client through the divorce process.  The emotional decision of whether or not to get a divorce is one that is best left to the experts, i.e. my client.  Often times potential clients have already met with a marriage counselor or his or her own counselor when they come to me for help.

Counselors, whether marriage or individual, provide an extremely valuable service to a party considering divorce.
